El Camino: New Friends

April 20, 2024 - Conques, France

Here we go. 14 miler with a late start. Heaven help me. I am smiling though. 😆

As I was about to leave the village I met this super nice British fella that lived in Conques. He weighs hiker’s packs and makes stickers.  He is super fun and he shared my story with his followers.

April 23, 2024 - Heading to Figeac, France

On my way to Figeac. Walking with a lovely Canadian couple and a French Fella. It was a real treat, walking with a group of people. I think I needed it. I was feeling a bit lonely.

We passed through some beautiful country. And there were these hidden gyms throughout the trail. Abandoned structures that still had beauty. The continuous rock walls that follow me. I see these walls as a reminder that no matter our age or condition staying present in our lives will only enrich them. I suspect a large body of my new work will incorporate the symbolism these walls. I hope I can do them justice. There shape and hidden history inspire me to create. My sketch book is filling up.

When you look at the pictures of the trail of the rock walls, notice how low the trail is comparatively. It has been eroded away by the hundreds of thousands of feet that have walked upon it.
